I have a headsix which I'm mainly using at work these days. I think I could probably get away with loading itunes etc on my work computer and hooking up a dac/amp.

Would there be any benefit over the ipod/headsix in doing this? Which amps should I be looking at? I'll be using Westone 3's

As far as the amp, you cannot to wrong with the ibasso D3.
Benefits? Amp and Dac only as good the source files.

I would prefer iQube over the ibasso D3.

High quality files on the iPod right to the IEMs would be my choice.

Source is very important, but the convenience of the iPod in that environment would be paramount.
