on the first page, one guy writes: "Omega II > HP-1 > R10." that's not too hard to believe. another guy says stax over R10 for classical. that's a bit of a surprise.
Having only heard the R10 and high end Stax at a meet, I much preferred the Stax. There were a couple of R10s at the meet. I really have no idea about set ups, but I assume they were good.

Not in my opinion - and I have heard them both side by side, with pretty comparable apliification, and outrageous sources. Maybe I just don't 'get' the R-10.
Proved that despite its huge size the CD3000 can be shoved down one's throat.

There is a nostalgic feeling to resurect very old threads now, yeak this htread is from 2001 probably running in a 80Gb harddrive and on the first 486 Jude had....the info here is completelly obsolete nowdays, we have new amps, a lot more owners of R-10 and evne a new model of Stax that sound very different from those...Why not opening a new thread and let other old one die....
