Hey!
I've been reading this site for a while...and I finally have a question that I don't believe has been answered yet!

Can somebody list all the plug and play devices out there? I know most flash players are (i think) and the Rio Carbon.

I'd actually buy the carbon over other players based PURELY on plug and play - the fact that my computer will read it as a external hard drive. That is huge to me, because I have 3 computers in my house that each have music on them (plus lots of friends who have nice music collections on their computer

) and installing crazy software on all three is too much for me. :P

Thanks in advance for the help!

MTP is just like MSC (mass storage compliant--aka 'plug n play') except it works only on Windows XP, or something. May work on 2k as well, I'm not sure.

Stargirl- Not all plug and play/mass storage devices are Drag and Drop compatible. Please clarify what you are looking for because that will change some of the candidate players for you.

Some devices will show up fine as a drive on your computer and you may move around data just like any drive. Drag and Drop devices allow you to move mp3's and other music to the device and play the songs through the player immediately. Some like the iPod's function as a mass storage device but if you add music files through Explorer or Finder they cannot be played until synced with software due to it being a database style player. But you can still move the files around if you wanted some from a friend.

Umm
I'm not sure which one I meant...But which ever term means that I can put a song onto my player without any software, and then play it after unplugging it - well, that's is the term I had meant to use...
