I can't say I am good with it, but I was able to get it working with my XDP-100R:
1- Downloaded xVortex's TWRP and driver package here https://mega.nz/#!k1EniTZT!Vc68r9kIERjt4MePfG-bCgveAWSpIWvXvw6skHskpL4
2 - Installed the package in the usb_driver folder
3 - Right-clicked the generic "android" device I see in Device Manager with the XDP connected
4 - Properties > Driver > Update Driver
5 - Browse > Let me pick > Manufacturer: Google, Inc > Model - Android ADB Interface

YMMV, but after installing my PC could see the device in fastboot OK.

i tried it keeps claiming the best driver is installed

The way I did it

2) install minimal adb 1.42 (MAIN ADB)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790

3) install android SDK (contains GOOGLE ADB driver, preferred)

then use this guide to change the driver

http://visualgdb.com/KB/usbdebug-manual/

NOTE THIS IS FOR WINDOWS 7

Windows 8 and 10 store the "extras" folder in different places, if you are using one of those drivers (I use win10) I can tell you where the extras folder is located containing the google USB driver, or you can google it up.

you may have to do periodically, if you attach a phone or other android device with ADB enabled.

I have installed ADB and Android SDK but the XDP does not show up in flashboot or adp. I tried both the google driver and universal driver. Using windows 7 and neither ADB nor Fastboot see the device. Dev options and USB debugging are on. Boatloader is unlocked via menus.

It is like this a rogue android device.

Help

Also, where is it documented that 3rd party aps do not use the ESS dac?
