Hello, Head-Fi.

So, I found these two headphones: Philips SHP2000/10 and JVC HA-RX300.
Both look promising and both cost $20.

Some info about intended usage:
- I am big on progressive rock (Pink Floyd, King Crimson).
- But I listen to classic music too.
- Prefer low volume
- Noise isolation is desirable. Since I usually hang out in computer labs and libraries, I do not want people giving me angry looks &) I even have a choice of buying Philips SHP2700 for a slightly higher price, but they are "open", so I guess I give them up.
- Even though I use things with care, headphones will live a backpack life. So, durability is very welcome.

I have read a lot of reviews, but I cannot make up my mind. Which one should I get?

Thanks.

I own the Philips SHP2000/10 and the treble is great, and I'm sure you want the treble for rock. I would recommend those but I have never tried the JVC. The Philips are semi open so that might not be a good idea to use them in a library. They also have a shorter cable than the JVC. The JVCs are closed but with a 3 metre cable, it's not really ideal for portability. I'm assuming they are bassy because JVC are known for the Xtreme Xplosives.

By the way, can you send me the link for the Philips SHP2700 listing. I can't find them anywhere.
