I've been doing a lot of reading the last few days, and I've managed to narrow down some options, but need the advice of the wise before I go and spend any more money.
Nowhere can I find a direct comparison of these two IEM's but they both appeal to me, and they're both in roughly the same price bracket.
I have some Fidelio L1's, but they're not particularly portable, so I'd like some IEM's to travel with. I have a budget of ~$150AUD.
The S2's appeal because by all accounts they will have a similar sound to the L1's and they come with Comply foam tips. The downside is, while the L1's present fine detail beautifully, they washout when playing heavier tracks (I listen to Prog Rock in all it's forms - Prog metal can get quite heavy) and become uncomfortable to listen to (where the high-mid meets the low-high just becomes noise, if that makes any sense). I fear the S2 will do the same.
So the Shure's appeal because they're supposed to have a more V-shaped sound, which will work much more betterer (I did real gooderer in english!) for heavier music. I've never used any Shure gear before, so it's a complete unknown for me. I also like the shape of them, and I'd hope they fit me better than the terrible run I normally have with cheaper IEM's (I'm hoping the 'olive' foam tips are good, I hate silicon tips)
They'll be driven from my iPhone via a E11K amp, FWIW.
So what shall I do?
Please?
Help?
