i've been borrowing a set of Sony CD3000's for the past few days, and they are completely comfortable except for one thing; if i've been wearing the phones for 5 or 6 hours, i get a phantom sensation on my head the next day. it really feels like the elastic self adjustment band is still on the top of my head even though i haven't worn the phones for more than 12 hours. it's not painful, it just feels weird. i have noticed that the sensation has gotten more noticeable over the past couple days of using the CD3000's. has anyone had this before and, if so, does it go away? i really love the CD3000's, and i would hate for something like this from keeping me from getting a pair.

it might just be the shape of my head, which is very round. while the frame has plenty of capacity to take a larger head than mine, i wonder if the elastic is stretching to its maximum due to the roundness of my head and pressing down on my head harder than it should...? i don't think that is the case, though, as the elastic doesn't seem to be anywhere near it's maximum, and there is no discomfort while i'm wearing them. hopefully i'll get used to it or the sensation goes away.

I have owned the CD3Ks for almost a year, and nope, never had that. But I have a huge head too, so hehehe.

Edit: Like you, my head is also round.

Round and big. Like a soccer ball. Heh.

maybe it's just me. now that i think about it, i'm getting the same sensation i get if i wear a baseball cap after not having worn one for a long time. it's probably just resting on my head in a way my scalp isn't used to. i do plan on ordering a set of DT880's next week from headroom, so i'll see if the lingering discomfort of the CD3000's is worth it for the sound. i've gotten a chance to hear the DT880's, but i haven't had long term auditions with them. i do really love the CD3000 sound, though.

[edit: i guess its not really discomfort, it's just...odd. i don't like it, though. it kinda feels like that part of my scalp is about to go numb.]

It doesn't like you and it's eating your brain and sucking away your life energy. To prevent this you must place a layer of tinfoil between your head and the headphones.

this has never happened with other phones. i've worn my SR-60's that long every day for weeks with no real discomfort (other than itchy ears).
