Hi,

I want to show a friend my HD800 but I want to make a good impression. He's not really into audio and he thinks my recent headphone purchase is... absurd is a way to say it I suppose. So: If you could name a few tracks (specific tracks) that are not only very, very well recorded, accessible, but also shows off the strengths of the HD800 (clarity, soundstage?), that would be awesome.

Thanks.

  Play his favorite songs.

+1

showed a female friend of mine one of her favorites with my D2k and HM801+Pb2... she almost beat me up lol

either way she's into cameras [like thousand dollar kind] so she get the... money spent for good audio.

still favorite song of his is a sure fire way to win him over!

Although, I still want a few song's he's not familiar with, show him different types - Plus, I want to have a few nice orchestra pieces for myself too.

Start and end with songs he knows and likes!

Nowadays he's all into League of Legends. I don't know much about the game.

I managed to steal his attention away from LoL awhile to show him Skyrim though. Now he's probably back at LoL.
Could play him Time from Inception or Mind Heist. I remember he liked it and I liked it. And the soundtrack was pretty nice too.

Binaural tracks are always a win IMO. You can find some lengthier samples on HD tracks. Those Chesky binaural+ albums are BRILLIANT for demonstrating what headphones can do. Especially the drum and flute, and whisper tracks.

Have to agree with the Chesky binaural music. They are amazing, especially for soundstage. On many of the acoustic recordings you can see in your mind's eye exactly where on the stage each individual instrument is. Amazingly 3D. There is an Audiogon  "Wake Up Your Ears Sampler" that has some different genres and is amazingly inexpensive on HD Tracks.
