Hi guys,

I'm a newbie, very newbie when it comes to this stuff but I can learn pretty fast. I currenty have a PDA with a GPS system on it. Everything is fine but there's a problem. It is very hard for me to listen to the voice guidance through the PDA speaker. The PDA has a headphone jack (I believe its is a 3.5mm) on it. I want to ask you guys if it is possible for me to be able to wire the headphone jack to an external speaker. I was on Ebay and I saw those mini-speakers for laptops, anyone know if can produce a louder output than my PDA. As far super clarity, it doesn't matter as long as I can hear what it is saying. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot,
Khoa

Cool, so my 200th post will be audio-unrelated. :P

Are you using the GPS navigation in a car?
What is your PDA model?
Do you have a mount for car use?

Not sure how you are using your GPS but I would assume you are using it in a car with a proper mount.

I would recommend three solutions, from the most ideal to the least:

1. Get a car mount for PDA with a built-in speaker. Speaker out of PDA to the built-in speaker in the mount. Not good for music, but for voice navigation this is fine. Here is an example:

2. If your car stereo has stereo input, connect to that. If it has cassette input, use a mini to tape converter. That is a pseudo tape that can be read by cassette player. Here is an example:

3. If your car stereo has no input, use a FM broadcast transmitter fed by mini stereo out. Here is an example:

I am pretty sure either of these setups (or ingenious soulutions) will solve your problem. I presonally chose the first. And the store I linked to is a great resource for PDA+GPS products.

Have fun with the GPS
