I had an old an album of "Passion, Grace & Fire" (John McLaughlin, Al di Meola, Paco de Lucia), which I no longer have, but do have a 128kbps MP3 of. Yes, I know. I was looking at getting the CD (again?), but I heard that there's a re-mastering. Is that true? Anyone have a link to the re-mastered one? If not, I might just get the CD and rip it at full-res.

Got it yesterday and just listened to it the first time. ... yes, the K2 "X-mas" edition
wink.gif
.
Holy cow, don't anybody try to tell me that lowly red book CD is insufficient.

Apart from the spectacular soncis, this is easily on the same level as "Friday Night in SF" just a studio version w/o stupid folks shouting inbetween. There are no liner notes and one big caveat ... it's only 31 mins. Ok, just have to press repeat

I have this edition:

As mentioned before, basically if you know "Friday Night at San Francisco" this is similar music style, just a studio recording

Compositions by the three guys themselves:
1. Aspan 4:06 (John McLaughlin)
2. Orient Blue Suite [part I, II, III] 7:04 (AlDi Meola)
3. Chiquito 4:41 (Paco De Lucia)
4. Sichia 3:47  (Paca De Lucia)
5. David 6:29 (John Mc Laughlin)
6. Passion, Gace & Fire 5:25 (Al Di Meola)

In some tracks there is a LOT of reverb ... not sure sure if that is natural

Other that this the dynamics of their play are breathtaking. With these folks there is some technical skill show off, for sure. But if you like acoustic guitar there is hardly anything better.

Shortly after this thread, and all of your comments, I ended up getting the K2HD. I really like it. It just came up on my shuffle and I remembered that I hadn't posted a thanks, so thanks!
