Anyone know if the SL-CT810 is available yet in the US? The Panasonic website lists it, and lists CVS, PC Richard, Sears and a few retailers, but searching there websites I wasn't able to find it. Has anyone seen this in the stores? Based on the positive review of the CT710, and the addition of a digital/optical out on the CT810, this looks like it could be the best PCDP to come out in a long time, atleast in the US.

Just checked out their web site... looks really good. Almost makes me want to upgrade, just because.

Take that, Sony

Hope it sounds good

Go to a store, they probably have it. Futureshop just began to list the SL-CT710 on their website, but the fact is that they have the 710 and the 810 in store. They were selling them for a couple of days when I went there, because there was only one 810 left, which I bought

I like it so far, especially the battery life ( around 130h with the 2 gumstick Ni-MH batteries ! ).
The sound is good, but since I listen to it in the bus most of the time, it isn't so important.

Ho and now the remote has a backlight, which is nice. I need new headphones though... I keep breaking mine while using them in the cold outside. The only downside is the 32 character limit of the remote, but I can live with it !

thanks for the info, I'll have to check in a few stores. Do you know what the output is on the headphone jack? Also, do you have any older PCDP's you can compare the sound to?
Just curious, because I'll mostly be using the digital/optical output anyhow.

Good info...just noticed the 710 now at Future Shop - does it have a line out? It's listed as not having one but I've read that the 710 does have one. Btw, anyone knows how good (or bad or average) the 710 is?

If you don't mind, a couple of questions regarding the 810: have you had any problems playing MP3s (with VBR, etc.)? And how much did you pay for it at FS?

Thanks!

On panasonic's website, they say that the 810 has an optical output but the 710 doesn't seem to have one.
I haven't had any problem reading any mp3 so far, but I'm not sure if I tried some VBR. I'll make sure tonight.
I payed 200$ CAN + tax for it at the futureshop btw.
Edit : I have no problem with VBR files, or anything at all.

Thanks for the info! Ya, not sure about the 710 regarding a line out, too bad no store around here carries it, and the closest FS is like 5 hours from here...! What do you think of the 810 so far? Now that you've had it an extra day, lol. And $200 doesn't sound too bad, panasonic.ca lists it at $219 but FS always sells the stuff $20 or so cheaper. Thanks again.

There's a place here in downtown Toronto that sells the Panasonic SL 800 for $140, new (cash of course). So don't be in too much of a hurry to buy at Future Shop prices. It's just a CD player

The 810 and 800 are different players. The 810 has a digital/optical output, the other doesn't. The 810 has a digital amp, new HiMat technology (whatever that is

Here in the states, DataVis is taking preorders here

I called the 888 number and they said they are selling for this price now. AudioCubes is $199. I am going over to Datavis at lunch if anyone is interested.

HOLY %^*&! $119!!
They claim it's in stock, or just the preorder? That price is too good to be true, and judging by the growing rep of DataVis on a Pioneer 800C thread on the headphone forum, it may indeed be.

they aren't in stock but are expected within a week. the way i see it, $119 is a great price and they WILL honor it. i ordered something a month ago on preorder and the price was way cheap. once they got it in stock they boosted the price to retail. well, anyway, i figure if there is any funny business, i can get a full credit on my charge.
