I've got a PA2V2 amp on the way in the mail.

I'm also buying a line-out cable to go directly from the bottom of an iPod classic (160G) to the PA2V2.

PA2V2 owners: Are there any potential problems with using the line-out signal on an iPod with a PA2V2? ie. - Will this cause any issues re. volume level, too hot a signal, disortion, etc?

Thanks!

Welcome to Head-Fi.

I once owned a PA2v2. I'm not up on the latest revisions but mine didn't have a gain switch and using IEMs was a problem due to the high gain on the amp. There was little volume range before it was too loud, with full size cans there was no problem.

Other than that, no other issues. The PA2v2 should give a nice boost in power with no issues.

Cool, thanks for the welcome. Nice to be here - great forum.

And thanks for the fast response. I'll be using the amp with Audio Technica ATH-A700s (if they ever arrive... taking forever...), so sounds like it should be okay. Also, Gary said the PA2V2 will have a gain adjustment feature.

But Gary did say the iPod line-out signal is pretty loud, which is why I was asking.

Works and sounds great to me with RS-2, IE8 and ATH-AD900. Won't quite drive my JVC DX1000's though. But those never leave my house anyway.

I'm currently using the pa2v2 with my fuze line out and it is pretty loud. I'm not sure how the a700's are, but at low gain I get a pretty small range of volume adjustment with my grado's and my audio-technica es7's (probably like 15 degrees of adjustment lol). I'm sure if your headphones need more power than mine then you'll be fine.

I got mine in the mail yesterday and it's doing a hell of a job. It's driving my Grados very well and call me crazy but I'm now able to hear sounds I didn't hear before without the amp.

It's a great little amp and Gary is a really cool guy. If it's too loud, you can adjust the two little blue gain knobs on the inside of the amp. I had to for my IE8's and it worked perfectly. Enjoy!
