So I'm wondering if I'm missing/forgetting something, but are there any open back headphones similar to RS1s, that aren't quite as bright, but still retain a similar sound? I've tried senn 650s, and found them to be a bit to dark, AKG 701's and found them very detailed, but the soundstage was a bit to un-natural for my taste. I have RS1's and I find them wonderful at low volumes, but when turned up, they seem to become very sibilant. Are there any other phones in this range that I should try out?

and for what its worth, I listen mainly to rock music

The HD600 is brighter than the HD650 and not known to be sibilant at all (even when pushed hard). You'll miss the forward presentation of the mids you get from the Grado though.

I'd take a look at the HiFiMan HE-5. It is a fantastic rock headphone, and is fun and a little bright without the glaring brightness that the RS-1 exhibits.
