have only had limited listening since i swapped the 8620 for a brown dog with two opa637's and ground 627 (for 8610). don't know the effects on other setups, but for these phones, i notice a world of difference. it really isn't subtle. the detail, soundstage, clarity, musicallity etc. etc. blows the 8620 out of the water in this setup. i wanted the change to a more laid-back burr brown with these grados, but i got much more of an upgrade than a sidegrade. though, it accomplished what i wanted in lowering the "bleeding ear" factor of the harsh highs, the overall sound quality is much increased. i can't really say it better than tangent. his description is spot-on on his page. i can see how these might not be the best for senns (possibly). i definitely notice the smoothness, and laid-back nature of burr-browns everyone talks about
