Olympus DM-1 users???

I have a need for the software in order to use this recorder as an mp3 player as the player was returned to me sans usb cable and software disc. Apparently, the software places certain files/drivers on the card in order for it to play the mp3 files. I can use the replacement cable or a card reader to transfer the files but the player indicates no music files are present when my reader clearly tells me that they are. No response from Olympus tech support so I'm hoping someone here has the software or perhaps some suggestions.

FWIW, yes I've checked the Olympus site and they are out of stock on the replacement CD and for $50, they can stay out of stock. I'll find another way before I shell out that much dough on a replacement disc.

Any help greatly appreciated. This little device would make a great companion for yard work....IF I can get the software issue straightened out.

So no DM-1 users here? Man, I'm stuck if that's the case. $50 is too much for the software. I'll put the money toward a flash player first. Last bump in the hope that a DM-1 user will notice. Crap...I could beat my son senseless for losing that disc!

Yeah, tried that but those are updates and can only be applied if the software is already installed on the PC. Unfortunately, that's my problem. I don't have the CD anymore.

Is there a chance you could get another one,burn off a sneaky copy and then return it? - dishonest i know but when faced with a $50 bill for a new disk whats a bloke to do?

Nope. Unless an owner would send me one, I'm stuck. Olympus clearly states opened software cannot be returned. Stinks for sure. There are two files that I need placed on my card for the player to recognize the mp3 files. All I need(I think) is for a generous owner of the same player to email me those files and I can use explorer to drag and drop the files.
