Noontec Hammo S

*Disclaimer*
Remove the earpad foam for way better sound!!! The foam kills the mids too much!!!
Very easy to do this just take off the earpads and remove it.

BUILT QUALITY/CONSTRUCTION:

The packaging is sufficient and on par with most of the mid-fi products that I’ve purchased. Nothing special really to be noted here.  It does come with a nice hard side case that should protect it from riding around in a backpack. Also two wires one regular and one for smartphone both of them are flat cables.

The build it self is over all feel pretty decent with no creaks or squeaks when moving around on your head. It does make a sound when you stretch it out over your head but is not something you hear other then that. I don't think this is a tank of a headphone but feels better built then the beats it is made to look like.

Comfort

Ample headband padding make this great for long sessions of music listening. The earpads material is medium grade protein leather and is probably sufficient for most people in the cushion. However I do wish it was a bit thicker and also bigger over all. These headphone are not really over ear for average people but more of a hybrid/on-ear.

Efficiency

While these headphones are 32 ohms I would rate them as slightly more power hungry then your average portable. On my LGv10 the volume level is between 45-60 depending on the recording. On my Aune X1s it is safe to leave about 9-10 o clock on the volume knob.

SOUND

Very engaging and energetic sounding headphone. It is fairly flat with being slightly V shaped but very hard to tell for me anyways. It is a more warm sounding headphone but this is also very slight just enough to make it non-fatiguing. Soundstage is better then average for a closed headphone and give the sound of slightly off the ear impression. This set has very good instrument separation as well for a closed set. Very fast response through the sound spectrum. Sub bass is there but not huge this set seems more bass/midbass centric.

Macro Detail is very good over all not too much lost in a very big arrangement. Micro detail is also there but will not compete with the big boys by any stretch. I would say these would work pretty well as a monitoring headphone in a pinch but not something for mixing ect..

I would put the sound at $200-250 headphone range.

OVERALL RATING

8.5 out of 10

Sweet, I have always wanted to review the Hammo as I have the Zoro II HD and Zoro II Wireless which both sound fantastic.

Do the pads go all the way around the ear because they look very small?

Not unless you have really tiny ears more or less on ear or partial on ear headphones.
