He, He I also remember the Dusty-DarkAngel dispute over Anneke vs. Cristina and the end of it was Dusty took back his words on Lacuna Coil beeing second hand Gathering...

I've been listening to In a Reverie a lot lately, and I have to take back what I said about Lacuna Coil being a "poor man's Gathering". They really do have a style of their own, and I quite like it. It's just a little bit more subtle than that of The Gathering. Can't wait to see them live (in 1-2 weeks)!

Give them a second try...

oh, I don't doubt that. you don't make a name for yourself like Lacuna Coil has if you're just a copycat. I wish I could explore the entire genre in a week, but, alas, I can't.

Yeah, I like some NIGHTWISH stuff too, but there three other bands also featuring lead female vocalists that grab me with more intensity: DREAMS OF SANITY, EDENBRIDGE and DUNWICH. For those of you guys eventually interested, I would highly recommend these titles to start with:

DREAMS OF SANITY - The Game
EDENBRIDGE - Sunrise in Eden
DUNWICH - Eternal Eclipse of Frost

Regards

Thanks for the recomendations. Heard some samples from both Dreams of Sanity and Edenbridge(Dunwich I couldn't get) and both are great bands...(from what I heard Edenbridge is very close in style to Nightwish) but still the voices of the lead female vocalists don't rank with me as high as Anneke's and Cristina's... Dreams of Sanity are less "symphonic" than Edenbridge but a little more complex(progressive?) I may listen to them few more times to form a solid opinion...(I also heard Dreams of Sanity's performance of Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA-well, compared to Sarah Brightman's performance-what can I say-the singer has "a little" more to learn(I want to be polite...) still, they both are first class bands and I like them a lot

You might like to try the link below:-

http://www.musicaldiscoveries.com/re...bvifeature.htm

Its a review/article featuring Tarja from Nightwish, the one from edenbridge and Candice from Blackmores night. Apparantly the last track on the disc is all three of them singing together!

Thanks. Very interesting article. Did you listen to this last track? - sounds very promissing ... I'll try to get it, with some samples from the whole album.

I download the mp3s with WinMX - of course you could use any other P2P program you like, just watch out for spyware... and after I listen to them few times and if I like them enough, I go hunting for the CD. Usually I put a search on GOOGLE with the name of the band and I always get the band's website and enough articles and reviews about them so I don't waste my time going round in circles...a search at AMG usually also helps... then, there are some very good sites with a lot of samples of many of the contemporary groups - when I say "samples" I mean full songs - I never care to download the worth for nothing 30sec/1min samples...sites WORTH CHECKING:

http://genres.mp3.com/music/metal/heavy_metal/
http://www.metalmeltdown.com/mp3.html
http://www.centurymedia.com/index2.htm
http://www.noiserecords.com/default.asp

Hope it helps...

I checked Project Infinity and haven't yet made a solid oppinion. I downloaded 4 songs, which shoud be enough for first impression - including the last track - they are good, perhaps even very good but I still don't fully get the taste...anyway I listened some three/four times to this last track song - it's called "Promises under the rain"- it's OK but not what I would have expected from a trio like Tarja, Sabine and Candice... perhaps I'm wrong but the music is a little to "soft" for my taste... funny, but the other songs sound better to me - I have to listen more - which is exactly what I'm doing while I'm writing to you...
