this is probably silly, but... can the airheads, aside from being battery operated, be plugged into a wall outlet?

Yes they can, using a 9 volt power supply if my memory serves me correctly. Most people recomend using a regulated power supply, and I have one. It works better than a standard power supply. I'm almost positive that every Airhead has a power supply option, from the newest Total Airheads to the first (radio-tuner) models from years ago.
