The old driver had some pretty major issues... Sometimes just sitting in the computer chair (no kidding, probably caused by a static electricity discharge) would case the card to get screwed up and keep generating noise instead of sound until it is reset - and the only way I found to reset it save reboot is to run RMAA (audio measurement program) in calibration mode. From the release notes it looked like they might have fixed that.

I've had that static blast problem a couple times too. I can usually fix it by shutting down any audio apps and setting the card to output a test tone in the control panel. Haven't had that problem for a while though. It usually only occured using kernel streaming in Foobar2000, so I switched to ASIO output.
