and don't forget that you can often get them through dell at 20% off or more

I bought the 10g iPod from Dell awhile back for $325 shipped but i think i'll be retiring it to my gf while I move to the 40g version. with 40 gigs I can take a good chunk of my collection with me

hey I thought toshiba stopped making the 10 gig drives?? I thought the new ipod line would be 20gig < 30 gig < 40 gig .. - where the 20 and 30 gig version would be the same thickness as the current 10 gig version (

If those price rumours are true, then I *might* actually be able to afford an iPod. It all depends on whether or not I'll be able to justify spending $479 CDN on a portable while still being in grade 12 student.

Actually last year, while roaming the halls, I saw a grad holding an iPod and showing it to his friend. Of course, I did a double take. I love iPods.

If I had one I'd probably keep it in hiding lots of the time, as people would force you to lend it out to them.

same here I don't even let my gf touch the iPod. I would smack her hands. Instead she gets the Zen to take to work because it's built like a tank and much cheaper to replace if need be.

thats why i liked my archos multimedia. no one knew what the hell it was so no one stopped me unless i showed them the color screen and divx playback feature... sure it was a little buggy, but they significantly improved the sound over previous units.

i'm thinking about returning my 20gb ipod and buying the newer 40gb model for the same price (if the rumor is true, of course). eek, i can't wait till tomorrow.. the other date that seems to be floating around is march 14th. i really really like my ipod, but better battery life and double the space is not to be frowned upon. plus, apple seems to do very well with upgrading their items. the remote control and non-moving scroll wheel are both awesome additions to the ipod, i wonder what will be offered in the new version?

Great opportunity for anyone who has been wavering to pick one up. It's one of those devices that just works - I've been travelling a lot this month and the iPod has been just awesome.
