Is everybody excited about the National HeadFi meet? I sure am. And as part of the excitement, we will be showing a new Prototype Headphone amp at the meet for the first time. The amp was designed by my good friend Kevin Carter @ K&K Audio and will be exclusively sold through Moon Audio. But wait, what's it called? I have no idea.
We have not been able to decide on a name so we thought we would give Headfi'ers a chance to come up with the name that will be badged on the face plate. So get out your thinking caps and email me your best amp name. Once we narrow it down to 5 names we will have a vote on HeadFi and the person who comes up with the winning name will win a 10' Blue Dragon Headphone cable. Since the amp is being built as we speak there is no picture yet.

Here is the description minus the name.

The ________ headphone amplifier is a fully differential transformer-coupled vacuum tube design that provides enough gain and low enough output impedance for virtually all high end headphones. It has a transformer-coupled input stage utilizing the excellent 6n23P/6DJ8/6922 family of tubes that integrates the volume control in a way that allows either unbalanced or balanced inputs and offers excellent common mode noise rejection. The ________ is configured with two unbalanced inputs and one balanced input. This stage is directly coupled to a differential 6H30 output stage that uses a high performance Lundahl output transformer to couple the output stage to the headphone load. Because the output impedance is less than 20 ohms, bass control on virtually any dynamic headphone is truly excellent. The power supply is tube rectified/inductively filtered for low noise. The use of high quality audio transformers and the absence of coupling capacitors ensures the preservation of recorded musical details and the faithful reproduction of the original ambient information captured in the recording process. The _________ will be available in two versions: one with standard high end parts quality and a "hot rod" version with high tech amorphous core audio transformers, discrete resistor volume control, Black Gate power supply capacitors, and silver plated AC input components.

Look forward to seeing everyone at the meet. We will have all kinds of goodies for sale and preorder. Creek, Music Hall, Grado, Sennheiser, AKG, Olive Music Servers etc etc oh and Cables. We are proud to add Single Power, Stax, AKG, Creek, Music Hall, Shanling, Goldring & Whest to our line of Equipment Sales. The Single Power Web Page on our site is up and running. The rest to follow soon. Contact me for pricing and PreOrder Specials on the new brands.
Blue Dragon Headphone cable is back in stock and the V2 Silver Dragon and Black Dragon Headphone cable for Sennherser Headphones are in the works

Cool, congrats Drew, this is an exciting product. I'm looking forward to trying it out at the meet.

I don't know if you will have my Black Dragon ready (no worries if you don't), but if you bring it, I can try it with the amp and my 010!

Best,

-Jason
