Audiophile Ninja has just released a new Headphone cable line. The Vanish Line. Excited about it. Supposed to be less microphonic and uses a higher quality wires and connections. Ordered one.

edit: a Few words about them

These are nice. I like them a lot more then the regular ones. Much more flexible. They have a strain relief on the xlr end, which is a nice touch. They have 0 microphonics. Feel a little bit lighter then the OG model. I can not compare sound quality as I do not own the 2 different cables on the same model headphones. They do sound good though. Very happy with the purchase and expecting to use it for years to come!

Anyone else try these? Looking for a new cable for my Atriums. The stock ZMF OFC cable works just fine but I just don’t like the ergonomics…

I made pretty similar cable for my ATH-R70x yesterday from Van Damme's UP-LCOFC cable, Amphenol gold plated 6.3mm plug, gold plated 2.5mm locking bayonette plugs, mil-spec coverage and ewona-wool filler inside splitter (my stealth technology against splitter hitting something if not done already, no distractions from that from now on, actually from any part of the cable) and neoprene composite insulation on top of others.

It came up pretty hefty but it's still very flexible, just as I like them! Sound? Yeah, coming through. Just blew this one over since wanted to make a cable for the rest of my life for these cans, basically this shouldn't blow up even if I hanged in this. Middle of a house fire.

Cost you ask? 15,40e (materials, splitter I had laying around) but of course there's the work on top of that, one day job for this kind of guy who gets angry at cables when doing stuff too long but these days I have the spine to stop for awhile and come back when my pulse has stabilized, hehe!

This was not any kind of criticism against Audiophile Ninja's prices, actually pretty much the opposite. They are fairly priced, I wouldn't really make a cable for anybody for the 'Shuriken' series prices, Ninja must like making cables very much since donating time for charity! If I would make cables for living, it would be just solid price, customer decides from what kind of cable I'd make it and choose the parts; price stays, hehe! This cable was more of a tribute to the Ninja's cable styling, which I've always thought to be very stylish black but haven't had that much of an extra money to put in cables since I make them anyways from time to time. Audiophile Ninja cables seem to be a great craftmanship for sure and heard only positive things about Ninja's cables!

Wow, that was quick...I had an email exchange w/ Audiophile Ninja less than 2 weeks ago; I inquired when they'd be expanding their Vanish line offerings. They responded "likely three or four weeks" for the headphones I inquired about.

Anyway, on a whim, tonight I checked their site and was pleasantly surprised to see the Vanish line has indeed expanded, earlier than I was told.

I ordered a 4-pin XLR terminated cable for my MDR-Z1R. Looking forward to receiving it.

Did you end up receiving them and how do you like them? Thanks in advance.

I did...made a quick post in the main Audiophile Ninja thread (though that was only about receiving it and commenting on initial appraisal of the build quality).

I've used it several times w/ my MDR-Z1R. My only cable alternatives are the stock 4.4mm balanced cable (connecting to XLR of my amp via Audiophile Ninja 4.4mm to 4-pin XLR adapter) and a Mogami wire-based cable from Fog City.

Build-wise, only time will tell how durable the new Vanish cable is. The conductors above the y-splitter aren't cloth-covered and are relatively thin. We'll see how durable they are with use and passage of time.

Sound-wise, I'm a bit hesitant to say, as though I am a "cable believer" I do not find massive differences as stated by others in the hobby. That said, I find the Vanish cable to slightly improve my listening experience relative to my two alternative cables. Primarily, the removal of a slight "glare" that I'd often experience in the lower treble region with the stock & Fog City cables. I THINK I also perceive a tiny bit cleaner mid bass reproduction as well. YMMV with all that.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it. :)

Design is interesting. Cables above the splitter remind me of a thin IEM cable - not quite what I expected having used their cables before (as well as the premium price for their new Vanish line). Perhaps the idea was to get the weight down as low as possible (which indeed is very low)?

Anyhow, attaching comparison photos with Forza Hybrid Noir HPC.

Bingo! That is exactly the purpose behind the Vanish line. Quality UPOCC Litz conductors that you'd typically only find on ultra-high cost cables, but with a simple, minimal weight design. The wire underneath is what really matters, and the sleeving adds a decent amount of bulk (and time) to the build, especially when each wire is individually sleeved.

Many vendors build these braided cables, which many listeners do enjoy, and that's awesome! But for the Vanish series, we wanted to be different. We aimed to build a high-quality quad core cable without the bulk, hence 'Vanish'. The result allowed us to showcase the sleek simplicity of the custom black matte UPOCC wire on top, and we kept a single nylon multi-filament sleeve layer over the 4 core braid on the bottom, as it allowed the cable to coil much more smoothly, without getting tangled up.

Hope this helps explain a bit on the Vanish design and build, and as always, thank you all for your continued feedback and support of our tiny business! It is truly appreciated! :beerchug:

Best regards and enjoy your music -

Jeremy
