My headphones right speaker has stopped working, and in investigating the cord, it seems to be going out just before it reaches the split within the left headphone. I have to maneuver the cord into the perfect position to hear from the right speaker. Taping it or keeping it in place is impossible however as it is extremely picky. Here's an album showing my problem.

As I understand it, my only option is to cut out the portion of the cord I marked and re-solder the wires. Is it possible to even remove the wires from the solder and use the wires from further down the cord? Can I be that accurate? The points where the wires enter are very close and I'm not sure If I could be that precise. Any ideas, advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

If theres no saving my headphones just let me know. :p

Just desolder your old cables and replace them with new ones. As for the choice of cables, you can refer to the diy cable thread. It's pretty simple stuff, if you know how to solder properly. Don't worry too much.
