I need some 16 gauge cable for my magnepan MMG's.
I listen to all types of music. My reciever is an Outlaw RR1250.

I am willing to spend up to $100. Any suggestions?

Maggies are tricky. Their binding posts don't work with standard bananas or spades, so it's unique bananas or bare wire only.

I have a set of Nordost speaker cables that worked great with my Maggies. They're the Nordost flatline Gold, and they have the perfect banana plugs for Maggie jacks.

I believe the Flatline 2flat is just about in your price range.

Otherwise, bare wire is the ticket.

It's not tricky at all, once you have the right cable.

There are two nuts on the back of each speaker, with a screw threaded through them. Unscrew the screw from the nut, put the red wire in "+" and the black wire in "-" and screw them down tight (if they aren't tight enough for your liking).

That's pretty much it. The posts were designed 20 years ago when bare wire was the norm, but they really need a redesign. One of the first mods lots of people do is to change those binding posts for some modern 5-way binding posts. Now, you don't have to

I can absolutely recommend some anti-cable speaker cables, which Paul sells @ $10/ft per stereo pair, or you can go the DIY option which I plan to some day where he sells his wire @ $1.25 ft.

They're no frills, minimalist cables that just make sense.

I use standard banana plugs on my MMGs and MG12s and they work fine.

Am I overlooking something here?
