I had a replacement plan on an old camera that was giving me problems and since the store finally declared it as "un-fixable" (I had already bought another camera) they finally issued me a store credit.
One day I was browsing in their store and noticed the Sony MZ-NF610 minidisc recorder. I only needed one night to think about it and returned the next day and used my store credit to purchase it. I was able to talk them down to a $140 price since I saw a lower price at an online store.
Figured it'd make a great 2nd minidisc recorder, since I use my MZ-S1 constantly. This is definately a major step up from the S1. It has a remote control with an AM/FM/TV/Weather tuner on it, plus it has a sound equalizer with 3 different positions for bass and treble. And it's loud! When using my HD-457's I don't need any extra amp at all, gets painfully loud near the highest volumes. It also came with it's own recharge-able "AA" battery.
Only down side is you can't record from the remote tuner to the minidisc. Other than that the unit is awesome.
I thought my MZ-S1 was great and this one is even better. Having an EQ makes a BIG difference!
