I bought these way back in 2013, I think. My first set of "good" headphones, and I wanted to like them. I was ok with the lack of bass - to me they are detailed and accurate, but I don't find them fatiguing (I now use them for mixing). But the darn things were just plain uncomfortable!

The ear pads were too shallow, my ears begin to ache after 10-15 minutes if the inner part of the cup touches them. Don't even get me started on the headband - garbage. From the research I did, it doesn't look like I'm alone.

I bought a new set of ear pads first and that helped, but the headband still felt like it was trying to crack my head in two.

I finally decided to try a mod I had seen which was to swap in the headband from the Sony MDR-7506. HUGE improvement.

The last piece of the puzzle was the curly-cue cord, I just wasn't a fan. I replaced that and now I have a set of cans that have way too much money into them for what they are, but I enjoy my Frankenphones. :)
