I've found these Monitor Audio 14 tower speakers at goodwill for $50, eye measurements seemed to have a one inch tweeter, and two 5 inch woofers. They have two sets of binding posts, but on one speaker the top left metal post is broken, and it seems you wouldn't be able to keep a wire hooked up easily. Connecting to a reciever, and listening to the radio it seemed that the bottom set of binding posts fed audio through the woofers only, and the top set fed audio through the tweeter only. I only had a limited amount of time so i may have hooked up something incorrectly. I would like to know if the issue with the binding post would be easily repaired, and should i get these speakers, i bet they would be a nice upgrade from my logitech z-2300's i have connected to the computer. Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance for any of your thoughts, hard to find info on these on the internet.

I decided against these, just never like the idea of buying used.

For future reference...

If a speaker has four binding posts, the bottom two are for the woofer and the top two are for the tweeter. This is so that each speaker can be bi-wired, which allows the woofers and tweeters to be driven by separate amplifiers, thus reducing the load on each amp.

If your amplifier is not easily capable of bi-wiring, you can bridge the top and bottom binding posts together to drive both parts with one amplifier. Most bi-wire capable speakers come with bridges, but you can also use tiny runs of speaker cable for this purpose.
