I think is possible, I just need to rewire the 2 drivers to have a left and right signal

am I correct?

I have a yamaha orthodynamic mono lying around, it sounds good mono, but I wanna try stereo with it

Sure it's possible, that's how I rewired my HP-50A for stereo. Just remember to connect the ground wire to the metal tab that goes to the center of the driver, and orient the driver so that that side is facing away from your ears. That's how the Yamaha orthos are wired for stereo.

As for which cable to use, I love Mogami miniquad with my Yamaha orthos.

A few pics and links you might find useful:

HP-3 drivers with the stock stereo cable, red/blue are the signal wires, white is ground

How I routed the wires in my HP50-A after recabling. You don't see it that well, but there's a clip on the right side that holds the wires flat.

My howto in the ortho thread on how to open the HP-3, the HP-50 are similar but have slightly different positions for the tabs holding the frame closed.

If you have further questions, especially on how to damp them, stop by the ortho thread as most of the orthodynamic owners post there.

Great! Be sure to damp them, as the sound improves noticeably and they really become killer headphones. As a minimum, a large disc of dense felt or wool fabric on the back of the earcups. Stop by the ortho thread and we'll explain everything if you want to mod them to their best.
