Here is what I'm trying to accomplish:

PC computer
Macbook Pro

I want to take the audio signals from BOTH computers and have them come through my speakers, or headphones. So I need the ability to select which device they play on.

This is not for me being a streamer, podcasting, or anything. It's just for productivity and personal use. I use both computers for work during the day and would LOVE for the sounds to be coming through the same devices.

Thoughts? Thanks!

You should give more detail on what it is you are trying to connect each PC too. Do you have a seperate DAC and amps? What is the audio chain.

The simple answer would be to use a USB switch to feed a USB DAC.. I see plenty at the book store. Bi-directional. Multiple in and multiple outs.

Here is what I currently use, but it doesn't really matter as I'm looking to solve the problem, so willing to ditch what I have.

Right now I have an e30/l30 topping stack for headphones.
Right now the desktop speakers are Peachtree M24 and direct to the PC.

The problem with what you mentioned, at least from what I've found, is any USB Switch or anything like that just selects a single thing at once. Sure you can have a 10 port switch, but it's only going to "switch" between the inputs, it's not going to accept 2 at the same time, mix, output.

The best I've come up with so far is to have a DAC for each computer. Then from the DAC to a 2 channel mixer and mixer to speakers and mixer to headphone amp.

Haven't found a DAC or anything like what you're talking about that both accepts and uses dual inputs simultaneously.
