Microphone to use with 5.1 speaker setup

I am currently considering getting myself a 5.1 speaker setup to use in my room for gaming but am worried about my friends complaining of echo from a microphone. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to if there are any microphones that can pick up my voice and not the game sound from the speakers. Oh and also I was wondering if I could incorporate my m-audio bx5 d2 speakers into a 5.1 setup to make it 7.1.

Hope you get a helpful answer.  However, this is a general recommendations thread of a headphone site.  Seems like you're fishing in the wrong pond.

Look into shotgun microphones, it'll cost a bit more, but those types are good at sniping certain areas like your mouth.  Other than that I think regular computer mics would pickup the sound from your speakers.

A shotgun microphone probably would have been good but I have a very low price range so one of those is out of the question
