Will the Meta drive the AKGs well -- does anyone have experience with this combination? I wonder what options will bring out the best in these tough to drive phones.

I have good experience with this combo.
The meta that I have does drive them very well.
If you are thinking about a Meta get one that is "maxed out".
The bass response is much better with a well made Meta than one with "cheaper" parts.
