Does anyone have any thoughts on the Meizu M6 Mini Player? http://www.miniplayer.info/

Dap review gave it a good review and a lot of praise for sound quality. After reading Meizu's own forum I noticed Flac supprt is in the works with updated firmware. I also noticed mention of a Meizu Mini Player 2 with Flac support being developed. The only thing setting me back is the 4g max flash drive for the Mini Player 6. If the Mini Player 2 boost memory to 10g flash and has Flac suport I'm sold.

Anyone?
Later.

I have one

IMHO the best looking player
Comes with a semi scratch resistent film on it
I've put a few scratches on the flm already
No clue where I can replace the film

The good:
SRS is amazing
EQ bass isn't that great, I can clearly hear distortion.... but the SRS turned bass is very pleasing to the ear and doesn't distort
Radio =D
Video =D
Sexiest player by far

The bad...

Visibility:
Hard to see in the sun, no matter how "bright" you turn it up
Touchpad:
Goes Beserk after an hour or two of being in "hold position"
Doesn't always happen. I hear they addressed this in the 8 patch but at the expense of SRS. I'm reluctant to try the newest patch for that very reason
No repeat one song over and over... for me this is HUGE, for others... this might not be a big deal
Seems to "freeze" more frequently than the iPod
The video FPS is... slow... I hear the physical specs allow it to be much faster but Meizi hasn't tapped into the full potential
The iPod scroll wheel is still the best by far. You can get from the top of your music library to the very bottom in less than 10 seconds no matter how artists you have listed(within reason). Can't say the same about the Meizu/Creative Z:VM Up/Down thingy

ugghh.... Equaliser distortion? I'm having second thoughts about the M6 now..

SRS WOW is good until you install the newest firmware that replaces SRS WOW with Samsungs DnSE. Hope DNSE is just as good as BBE or SRS WOW.

I heard a lot of people are complaining about DNSE...

ughh x2

*slowly moves away from the M6*

Edit: After more research some users say that the next firmware release will add DNSe support in addition to the already featured SRS WOW engine. Well it doesn't look that grim after all =)

Hi PeeeMeS!

Any detailed description on how's the SQ of this player? I've been looking around and some people gives emphasis on its bass (boomy or quality depth?). I'm looking at this player as a good flash portable with the E500.
Or maybe I should just go for a Nano, Cowon or the Samsung Z5 which is already head-fi proven to deliver quality SQ.

From the sound quality front, I think Meizu has the most advanced chip.
It's one of those newer Philip audio chipsets that most head-fi'ers go gaga over.
IMHO the Meizu was very bass shy without cranking SRS on... but then again, I've never come across a source that wasn't bass shy. Best portable source for me with the SRS bass... but I doubt you'd have the same listening preferences as me.
There's no bass distortion when you ease the EQ bass down and it does have a user-defined EQ.

I'm using the Meizu with the UE-10 Pros... amazingly the background is *blank* no hiss whatsoever. I think if there's no hiss with the UE-10 Pros, there won't be a single mass produced headphone that will hiss with the M6.

Well, I'll be damned. I was just waiting for a head-fi member to use good phones with this unit before I bite the bullet. Looks like there's no turning back now. The Chinese forums mentioned this Philips chip plus a Samsung that Meizu specially utilized for this unit. The Chinese fanboys branded this "core duo flash portable" jokingly

. I'll be picking this plus a the new nano soon and make comparisons.

The M6 has a lot going for it, imo. Flac, vorbis, drag and drop, almost as small as a nano yet has the iPod Video's screen size (yet better resolution) with video support better fps than the Clix. And with the fanbase and firmware upgrade support, I'm sure the touchpad quirks would be remedied soon (if not already). There's also talk of gapless under development and will come in the next firmware.

Anyone else with this player? I got the black version and paired it up with a Super.fi 3. The sound quality from it is AMAZING, plus the ability to use ogg and flac makes it even more amazing. The video quality is pretty good for watching TV shows (without subtitles), plus the screen is very high res! The firmware is constantly updated as well, so I'm really happy with this player.

Soon I will have my Shure E500. I need to use it with a small mp3 player unamped that does not hiss.

I am looking for these, in order:

1-Best unamped sound quality with IEM E500
2-Doesn't hiss
3-Not less than 2gb (the more the better)
4-Supports Drag n Drop (UMS) -- All iriver products now can support UMS through a firmware upgrade
biggrin.gif

My choices are between:

-iriver Clix 2gb: Can support UMS file transfer through a new firmware upgrade.

-Creative V Plus 4gb or Creative Zen Micro Photo 8gb: It has a very high SnR ratio -- 98db, so I guess it shouldn't hiss with the E500?

-Meizu M6 4gb: PeeeMeS said that it doesn't hiss with his E500. It supports Drag n Drop.

-iAudio 6 4gb: My last option though due to the reported 3 seconds lag between switching tracks!

Please Advise! Thanks
