I have two AV710's, both modded with Blackgate capacitors, both running Foobar config'ed to the same settings. Problem is at my home machine the line level is about half that of my work machine, and kernel streaming works sometimes, and not other times. Recently even DirectSound isn't working, I have to use WaveOut!

Any ideas on what's up with my home machine? Already tried new drivers.

It sounds like damage to one or more of the components on the soundcard to me--maybe while soldering on the Blackgates.

Well, the sound is still balanced and whatnot, i.e. both channels work fine, at the same level, and with good sound quality. Just much lower than my work PC. Also that wouldn't affect whether or not Kernel Streaming or Direct Sound could be used. I'm thinking the problem is either in Foobar or somewhere in my config, I just can't figure out where.

Have you swapped the cards yet? That will tell you immediately if it's a hardware or a software issue.
