Looking for a good budget car GPS

I'm looking for a good gps system for a car. My brother will be moving out soon, and I'd like him to have a GPS. I don't mind buying used or refurbished. What are some good recommendations? I've been looking at the garmin nuvi 255 and 260, but really, I have almost no idea where to start.
