Hi everyone,
I would like to know if it is possible to connect the Yamaha ns-555 speakers to the logitech z2300 subwoofer and if it is, how can I do it?

Also if I use the yamaha ns 555 speakers alone, how can I connect them to my pc?

Thanks,

john.m

Yes, it is very easy to connect your Logitech sub to your Yamaha speakers... It may sound pretty decent too!
The only thing you have to do is connect the left and right channel out to each speaker. I do hope you still have the remote control to the unit... or else, it'll make it very hard. There should be one wire going from the remote control to each satellite speaker. These are the wires that you have to connect to your ns555.

I'd say that there is some matching issues: - impedance of z2300 is 8ohms... and the Yamahas are 6ohms. This will overwork the amp and cause some clipping in your music. It should be ok - but I wouldn't turn it up anywhere near max.

If you want to connect these speakers directly to your computer [this is the recommended way], all you need is a receiver. I'd suggest a good 2 channel amp-receiver or... if you want, get a 5.1 or 7.1 amp-receiver - so you can upgrade to surround sound when you want. This setup, you can turn it as loud as you like....

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the answer LUCIDD! I think I will connect them directly to my computer. Can you suggest any good amp-receivers that are relatively cheap as well as the cables I will need to connect them to my computer?

Thanks

This is terrible idea.

Those are big tower speakers, the Logitech is PC subwoofer that plays way too high. Both speakers are going to overlapping + 100Hz, and the Logitech isn't going to be doing anything the Yamaha's shouldn't be able to do on their own better (unless they really are that ****ty).

Unless you don't care what it sounds like you need a real subwoofer with a proper crossover.

Yup...

As I mentioned, this is the recommended way. - cuz your other idea, will have missmatches - and Operandi is right, there will be overlapping freq... and also this setup will not maximize the performance of your tower speakers.
But will it work? - YEs... and will it sound OK - probably OK to the average joe - to a Headfier - it'll sound silly.

So receiver- amps that I'd suggest:
depends on your budget... but I'd go with a modern 5.1 receiver:

Pioneer VSX series
Yamaha RX series
Onkyo TX series

these receivers will have crossovers to set between your sub and tower speakers.... or set it on Off if you want to just try with no sub for now.

L

PS. if you are rich: then there are lots of other options... the above receivers are decent quality with lots of options... and will do the job. Are there better? - yes ... Marantz, McIntosh, etc have offerings too ... but will be more money than the above.
