I bought a MuVo N200 a few days ago mainly for the line-in feature. I'm interested in using it to record practice sessions and live performances of myself and my band. I was curious if anyone was using it for this purpose and what type of microphones they found work well.

I have hooked it up to a mixer and condenser mics and it works pretty good, however, I am really looking for a quick setup. Someone mentioned camcorder mics (ie the Sony ECM-MS908C) but I am concerned that without any type of gain/trim on the N200, it might distort badly.

Any recommendations on microphones and perhaps in-line gain control (ideally on the microphone). If not, anyone know of other units that record straight to MP3 at a decent quality (ie 160kbps or higher)?

ps -- just curious, why does the N200 record FM & voice input as WAV files? It clearly can encode mp3s.. I find this quite odd.

i use N200 line in record alot. i found out the battery only last 4 hours continusly and the unit shut itself down.the sound qulity is ok, but if you need to do some really serious recording, i 'd recommand Tone Works Prndora PXR4 or TASCAM pocketstudio 5. they got buid in gain contral and other stuff that really helped. and you can use SD cards .
