Hi,

I just received my first pair of 'good' headphones, purchased from this forum. For some odd reason, the left side sounds AMAZING, the right side does not. Any advice? The right side sounds very quiet, and it appears as though only certain frequencies are being played back. I've contacted the buyer for advice, but was hoping that I was overlooking something simple.

Sennheiser HD 595

Check the cable on the right side. It might have a loose contact or something. Other than that, I can't really help.

Your new, first-time experience with good cans might be illuminating some hearing issues.

I know I was generally unaware of my own slightly-lower right-side hearing until I had a pair of decent 'phones that made it evident.

With me, I'm figuring it could be a permanent ear issue, or it could be a wax-buildup side-effect. A family member recently told me they had the exact same thing going on, even in the same right side, and that after having a thorough, professional cleaning, it cleared right up.

If it's permanent, it wouldn't be surprising for me, as I'm a long-time rock guitarist and it's quite common for guitar players to have altered/damaged hearing in our right ears, as that's the one with which we do much of our listening.

One thing that's great, is that with a PA2V2 from Gary, I've been able to boost the right-side volume a bit, as his great little unit has separate L/R gain controls inside it. It makes a huge difference in balancing out the sound.

I'm pretty sure that my hearing is fine: I took the headphones off and put the L side on the R ear, and vice-versa. Same problem as before.

Knowing my luck, I've been sold a defective product :-(

Pull the right connector off and replug it.

Make sure its pluged all the way into the headphone jack. I know it sounds stupid but its happened to me.

Is there a visual guide on how to do this? To me it looks like nothing comes apart.

If you're on the comp, It could be WINDOWS and it's mysterious ability to **** any and everything up royally. I had the same problem at random with my old computer! Try restarting your computer, maybe more than once.

I think it might have to do with it being a Sennheiser product. Yea I hate to put them down at all since I love Senn, but I experienced the same thing with my HD280s. The left sounded great but the right seemed like it was underpowered. It probably has to do with the fact that both the 280 and 595 models have the single cord running out of the left can and the cord/connection to the right can has gotten loose/dirty/broken/something. Just recently I put my 280s back on (after 3-4 months of no use) and now the right can doesn't produce sound at all!

hmm, interesting. I think I will open it up and look around.

The 595 doesn't have detachable cables. At least my pair didn't. I wouldn't pull on the cable.
