Do we know if the. Edition x can compete with the lcd 3. The lcd 3 has a little too much bass which vales some instruments at times.

Just go for the HE1000v2. It's a very nice phone that competes well with the LCD4 actually. There are some good deals on it now (even new ones). I'm happy with it.

New one on ebay $2400 asking price but you can make a lower offer. I just googled this; I know nothing else about it. I did get my Sony headphones on Ebay this way and it worked out fine.
