LCD-2 vs LCD-x not sure which to buy!

So I finally got a chance to listen to the audeze lineup and see myself being able to purchase the audeze LCD-2, but I am a little short of getting the audeze LCD-x at the current moment.  Now I listened to both headphones and really do like the sound signature but I am trying to justify why I should get the Audeze LCD-x over the LCD-2.  I felt that the LCD-X had much faster drivers and the bass impact felt a bit cleaner in my opinion.  I do intend for these headphones to be end game headphones and also had a chance to listen to the HD800 but preferred the sound signature of the Audeze LCD line more.

Both headphones are great sans their bulky nature. The LCD-X is a more refined and accurate LCD-2 to my ears. The LCD-2 Bamboo gets very close to the LCD-X sound signature and because both are the lighter designed LCD headphones the fit should be less of an issue than the LCD-3 or an older Rosewood LCD-2.
 
Other options to try first would be the HiFiMAN HE-400i and OPPO PM-1. Both are awesome sounding planars and because they are much lighter and both have better headband adjustment systems may prove to be much more comfortable. If you are looking for something truly endgame then be sure to check out the OPPO PM-1. That thing is awesome sounding, looking, and feels like one of the highest end headphones I have had the pleasure to listen to.

LCD 2 are comfortable headphone, but after 1 hour of using it, my neck begin feel the weight. to me PM-1 is definetly winner in term of weight and comfort, i could use it for hours without having some neck issues. but in term of sound, LCD 2 clearly better in both bass and treble are, while PM-1 is more midcentric and intimacy with vocals

I started out with the LCD-2f as my first HiFi can.  I soon found that the 2f did not give me the wow factor I was expecting from headphones that expensive.  The best thing to do if possible is attend a local meet .  First it's a real gas with lots of great people to meet and pick their brains.  Second you get to listen to a great variety of headphonesl  You might find something you like even better.  I was ready to upgrade when I attended my first meet.  For me it came down to the ETHER or the LCD-X.  I chose the X because it had better controlled bass and a superior top end.  Though I now also own the ETHER I spend about 70% of my time with the X.  I paid about half again for the X over the 2f it was the best money I've spent in this hobby(well maybe the Cavalli Liquid Carbon).

So I did spend around 2 hours listening to both headphones and found things that I like with both.  I felt the bass in the LCD-2 had more rumble, but the LCD-X were faster and can be driven much easier.  So I am at a loss of whether spending more for the LCD-X would be worth my money.

I found the LCD2 to be more laid back and relaxing overall compared to the LCD-X. Granted I never heard the fazored version. I'm enjoying my LCD3's very well, it is a good compromise between the LCD2 and the HD800, though I wish it had a little more "oomph" in the bass as the LCD2 did.
 
With the Lohb strap, I found that I could listen to the Audeze without issues on extended listening periods. It was definitely worth every cent.

Now I have a new problem, I was just gifted the hifiman he-400i's, so now I am still deciding whether I want to get a LCD-2 or wait and get the LCD-x or LCD-3.  Now that I have this hifiman he-400i, I am now debating whether I should get the LCD's or the shure se846 as I don't own any IEM's.  From my research apparently the shure's have a similar sound signature to the Audeze LCD-2.  The struggle of buying high end audio is real.

Be sure to experiment with pad position using the HE-400i. I found that having the thickest part of the pads to the front rather than in the back broadened the soundstage and relieved some of the fatigue caused by the more direct-angle pad position.

I ordered both the HE-400i and the LCD-X to see if the cheaper Hifiman would be suitable compared to the more expensive Audeze. After a couple weeks, I decided to keep the LCD-X and get rid of the 400i's. Not certain the difference is $1000+, but the LCD-X are noticeably better.

Well the 400i's are 300$ and the Audeze's are in a completely different price range.  I felt the LCD-X had a lot of speed to their sound and that was something that I found very impressive.  What were the differences you saw between the LCD-X and he-400i's?
