I bit the bullet and finally ordered it 7 days ago.This is my first external dac. I admit I was a bit confused as to hooking the Microdac up to my Audigy4 soundcard thinking I also had to have the adapter thingy from Creative Labs.This is what confused me aside from the fact the soundcard has a digital out.Found out real fast in me making a mountain out of a mole hill just how quick and simple it really is !
Anyway,I was almost late for work due to waiting in my car for Fed Ex to arrive.Got the dac,went to work with the package in my trunk.Got home from work only to find the power was out

Power came back on an hour later thank god.Whipped out the brand new Cobalt coaxial cable,hooked up amp(Z-Audio Lambda),dac(Microdac),headphones(I-Grados)and cables(Earcandy) to the computer. I noticed an impressive improvement in all my 24 bit wave encoded tunes within the first 45 minutes.It needed time to warm up.
Headrooms microdac simply makes music much smoother sounding.Harshness is decreased a lot. Bass is more prominent and the overall sound is tighter and more focused.This is a quantum leap above the dacs in my soundcard.
I've been listening to all forms of my dearly loved new wave,punk,70's rock,alternative dance music,etc... and man I'm lovin' this little marvel from the minds of Headroom. I had no idea just how much I was missing in terms of overall resolution in sound.I have tons of poorly recorded tunes and some transferred from cassettes that are 20 to almost 30 years old.
Already,I now know there is no way i'll listen to music by way of just a source + amp + phones again without a dac. I cant pry myself away from the computer as I've yet to discover how the Microdac mates with my other amp,headphones,my nad cd player,and dne-920 ! Yea man,this is a kickass addition to my audio collection. Headroom---thanks guys !
