Are there 2 kinds of 75's out there or something? I noticed that some (all?) have a built in volume control?

If so, is it any good? I think I prefer without it as I heard there can be a slight degredation to sound quality, but haven't seen too much about it here! No mention on the Koss site either.

The radioshack version has a volume control.
It doesnt degrade sound when its on full volume, my only compaint is that it gets really scratchy after a while.

Pics of the headphones themselves with the volume control, or pics of the packaging?

I don't have the packaging anymore but I have a spare unmodded KSC75 with the volume control I could take a picture of.

No, the volume control is a very bad design, for two reasons

1, it addes the weight of the cord, and it has the "right" legth to stuck in my draw from time to time.

2, After only a month, it stops working properly, I need to tune it carefully to sound stereo, otherwise, hey, I got a mono headphone.

Try to avoid it if you can.

Yeah, the best place to get the version without the volume control is amazon.

Although having the volume control gives you a good reason to hack them up and do this:
