Hello everyone,
I wanted to talk here briefly about one of the three best current planar headphones on the market (with the JPS Abyss and the Hifiman Susvara), the Kennerton Thror, new flagship of the brand Kennerton.
It's not me who says it, but another head-Fi member: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new...-fischer-at-ifa.732814/page-133#post-14770870
I am the proud owner of the first Kennerton Thror, product in series (THR001) made of bog oak wood, and accompanied below on the photo of a beautiful Viva Egoista 2A3 tube amplifier from orange color Lamborghini: the association is splendid.
The Kennerton Thror replaces the Odin MK1 and mk2 as flagship of the brand. These last planar headphones are no longer produced, but replace with an improved version of the Odin mk2, the Odin Thridi (mk3) (more technical) which shares some of the characteristics, both of Odin mk2 and Thror, for both drivers and sound.
High-tech Kennerton Thror drivers with a lightweight fiber carbon frame ; powerful symmetrical semicircular Neodym magnets (2 x 5 bars per drivers) ; high-tech and lightweight (very fast) honeycomb Kapton membrane.
The Kennerton Thror is an easy-to-amplify headphone because of its high sensitivity (100 dB / mW and its constant impedance of 42 Ohm).
However you have to give it the best in amplification to obtain it the whole quintessence of the sound, especially a very good tube amplifier delivering at least 1 Watt on the load of 40 Ohm.
One of Kennerton's particularities concerning their Planar headphones (Odin mk2, Thridi and Thror) is the possibility of personalizing your headphones with the purchase of one of many varieties of wood available for these headphones, all more beautiful than the others. https://kennerton.com/headphones
Comfort issue ? The Thror is 200 g lighter than the Odin Mk2 (480 g Vs 680 g) and is a major improvement for people sensitive to weight for cervical vertebrae: it is lighter than an Abyss; the weight is similar to Stax SR-009 and Focal Utopia.
This luxurious Kennerton Thror headphones (for the quality of the materials used: natural leather, aluminum, precious wood, carbon fiber) provides a very precise, fast, natural, airy sound, with a right tone (neutral); his listening is akin to the drink of clear, invigorating mountain water; not that of a sweet soda in appearance more attractive to taste, but in the long run more boring or tiring.
Compared to the Kennerton Odin mk2 giving a more dynamic sound, more colorful (more fun) and closer, the Thror gives a more precise sound, rigorous and more neutral (less colorful), more airy, with more hindsight (distance away) for the soundstage.
To give you an idea for the rendering the sound and the soundstage of the Kennerton Thror versus Odin mk2, by analogy to the image of a photograph of a mountain landscap, you can look at these two photographs below, the first picture in analogy to the Thror, the second image in analogy to the Odin mk2. Feel free to zoom in on these high definition images to see all the details.

Where can I find useful information on the Kennerton Thror?
Of course on Head-fi, above all on the Head-Fi general-purpose Thread talking about Kennerton products: the Odin, the Vali and the Magister; but also, that's new in this genral topic, the new flagship Kennerton Thror and the successor of the Odin mk2, the Kennerton Thridi. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new...bles-amps-from-fischer-at-ifa.732814/page-134
You will also find a lot of useful information about the Thror (and soon the Thridi) on the French forum about Kennerton products: https://musique-o-casque.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=26&start=300
(note: use Google Translate, which works pretty well for non-French speakers).
Otherwise, English reviews begin to be published on the Kennerton Thror:
On Head-Fi, by earfonia: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/kennerton-thror.23048/reviews
and I think it soon by Headfonia: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new...bles-amps-from-fischer-at-ifa.732814/page-134
To conclude, the Kennerton Thror is a very great all-rounder headphones that we will hear more and more about, very probably in the top 3 of planar headphones TOTL, I tell you.
