Pretty nice so far. I'm auditioning them as I type this. I'll have some better impressions after a few hours. But so far, so good. Very even presentation with a very full sound.

The new roadie case is a pretty nice addition as well.

Again, kudos to UE for getting these out as soon as they did; I wasn't truly expecting mine unitl March or April, so this was a nice, early xmas present!

Yay! Congrats!

Does it sound 'neutral'? It looks like you have a large collection of IEMs, I'm expecting a massive no-holds-barred shoot-out sometime in the future!

That's a good question. It seems that not one area receives any special attention, meaing the treble, mids, and bass are all equally represented; if that makes any sense.

I like a little bit of bass in my music, and really like the sound signature of the Super.fi 5 pros. I really like the E500's, but at certain times though the treble can be a bit harsh and fatiguing (I know I'm in the minority on that thought). The bass on the E500s is nice and tight, but I wouldn't say its there in spades (to my ears, the bass is very "Shure-sounding", nice, solid, but not huge).

Now, the Triple.fi's bass, again to my ears, is much bigger while still being very tight. It doesn't overpower the mids and trebles, but plays very, very nicely with them.

It's hard to explain, but the Triple.fi's sound a lot bigger than the E500's at this point.

Of course, I've been listening for less than an hour now, so these are very pre-mature impressions, but that WOW factor was definitely there when I fired up the first song!

Oh, and for reference, I'm listening via my 5G iPod and M Hornet.

More later...

I've read how the mids are different from the e500s. Do you hear the same thing?

Personally, I really enjoy the mids that the e500s offer. Can you compare the two?

...and congrats on your new set of iems!

oldspice, I interpret the BIG feeling to overall more tonal balance compared to the E500's which are too bassy in my eyes. Add the fuzzy mids and you get a more in your face upfront presentation.

TF's definitely have a bigger soundstage than the E500's...

With that said the E500's are really fun and for rocking out, they may actually fit the bill better (I was listening to a techno sound and it lacked the thump-dee-thump the E500's offer).

That could very well be what I'm experiencing. But I find the bass on the TF's to be quite nice. Maybe the quality of the bass is different, but I defintiely feel it more in the TF's at this point.

Later this afternoon I'll do some A/B-ing, but I'm liking the TF's too much right now to take them out!

EDIT: I wonder how much the Hornet is playing into the differences as well? I'll play around with that configuration as well.

EDIT #2: OK, the Hornet makes a pretty significant difference - the bass definitely kicks in a bit more with the amp vs. out of the iPod's headphone jack. I see your point more when I'm coming straight out of the iPod.

Yeah, I tried it through an iPod and my Apogee - the bass is different. I suspect a high quality amp like the Hornet is going to play a significant role.

BUT the sound is really bigger than the E500's for sure. I think that's due to the overall presentation and treble extension...

oldspice out of curiosity, do hear a recessed upper midrange or some kind of midrange hump going on...there is something going on here...its not ultimate bad...but its different than what I'm used to (my beloved Qualia's).

i'm really looking fwd to hearing your impressions of these things, especially compared against all your other iems and not just vs the e500s, but also c/w the um2s, and your other ues, both 5pros as well as the eb version. i'd also like to hear not just about the sq but about their fit and comfort.

Yes, I would agree, there's something going on in the midrange. It sounds alot more upfront than with the E500's and a bit darker; hard to explain, but me likey.

I'll try to do some quick, few word comparisons of my other IEMs to the TFs, both in SQ and fit/comfort Here it goes:

UM2s- SQ: slightly muddier sounding, less instrument seperation, less impactful bass than the TFs. Fit/comfort: The UM2s were my most comforatble IEMs untill I got the E500s, however, the cord length from the split to each IEM is too short, so the advantage goes to the TFs.

5 pros - SQ: less muddy than the UM2s, but more so than the TFs. TFs have much better, more accurate, treble than the 5 pros. Midrange is a bit more upfront on the TFs. Bass is more controlled in the TFs. Fit/comfort: ?Very close to the TFs (obviously), however the TF's new cord design is a bit better, IMHO, as the "memory" part of the cord is actually integrated with the cord so there's no ridge where the memory wire ends and the regular cord continues. On the 5 pros, that rigde would sometimes rub against my ears and start to hurt a tad after awhile.

5EBs - SQ: Not really fair to compare the two. The EBs are a bit out of control all over the board! The TFs are greatly more refined in every respect. Fit/comfort: see notes on 5 pros.

E500s - somewhat fatiguing treble, more recessed mids, and "smaller" sounding bass. I'd say the E500s sound could be called "tight" compared the larger sounding TFs. The E500s make you feel like you're right there, with the music right in your face whereas the TFs sort of surround you in a blanket of music. Fit/comfort - The E500s are very, very comfortable, but I wish they had a memory wire. The TFs sit out of your ears vs. sitting in your ear "cup" like the E500s, so in one way, the E500s feel more secure. However, the memory wire of the TFs help hold them in and the wires never fall off my ears like the E500's wires do. Overall, it boils down to personal preference, but I'm fine with either.

I'll continue to update as I listen more.

"Dark" ain't a bad word though it tends to be negative. You are on the money that the TFs "surround you in a blanket of music." No doubt, that is definitely the defining charasteric compared to the E500's.

The SF5P are not even the league of the TF10s. I'm serious. I have access to both on a daily basis, its no comparison.

Btw, tonight I will try to give a gym update since I plan to work out with them to acess the bulk factor....

Yeah, I mean "dark" in a good way! I'm really like them more and more.

And, I did some altering of the roadie case so now my iPod,the TFs, and my Hornet are all packed in one stylish package!

Oh well, maybe tomorrow?!?

The TF's descriptions sound so damn appealing!!

Sounds UE-10 pro like except the mids???

I wonder if the Bass is very similar and which armature they were having problems with.

UE mentioned the failure of one of the armature after X amount of hours related to the delay. I will be curious if anyone gets a failure issue. I hope not!
