welcome to head-fi and sorry about your wallet! as i recall, those are rebadged Koss cans, and the drivers in them are the same "oldies but goodies" 60 ohm Koss drivers used in the KSC-35, porta/sporta pro, etc.

in other words, nice bang for the buck, and you're cool for school.

You could put it that way, or you could say that you could buy the same drivers in the KSC-75 for $19.99 (a bit of a debate on the different coating on the drivers, but basically the same), so you paid exactly what you shoulda!

Either way, if they sound anywhere near as good as the KSC75's you've got a great pair of portables on your hands.

i got them not too long ago. hated them at first, found out that the included pads put the drivers too close to my ears. seemed to make everything muddy.

if you like it stock, more power to you. but a cheap mod would be a pad replacement. i think the replacement pads radioshack sells (not for the pro35a), but the bigger ones that people sometimes use as grado pad replacements might fit and give just the right amount of space. (to me anyway, again - you just may already like it stock) (i used my hole-modded senn 414 pads that were on my sr60)

btw, im still loving these. big boomy bass, nice top end.

..which is what Koss sells them for all the time on their website, and always has been. The 35a is the same as the Koss KTX Pro1, which is the son of the KTX Pro, which is what I've been using as a knockabout 'phone for the last ten years or so. Not worth more than $20, but great for that price and comes with the all-important residual-hiss remover, aka the inline volume control aka the sensitivity control. Without it, you'd be doomed to hearing constant residual noise from the hissy chip amps in portable gear. Gives new meaning to "having a hissy".

It's easy to disassemble and futz with too, if you're ever tempted.

Which is a roundabout way of saying you got a good little headphone there. Ugly little mulletsucker though.

what a coincidence... i just bought some(again) on my way home from work. i wanted to put my modded senn pads back on my grado. anyway, heres the link:
http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...%5Fid=33%2D379

they fit better then the senn pads did, still very comfy - and definitely better sounding then (is it then or than? i always get confused.. anyway) those thin stock ones (to me).

I found these headphones at my sister's house. These are really good sounding for what I imagine she paid for them. As said though they do need better padding; you can feel the pressure build up as its playing.
Very great sounding with rock, none of the treble or bass stand out in the music. Definitely recommendable.

That's what Amazon always does on 80% of their stuff. They advertise the List price, which is always way higher than anyone sells it for, then marks it down for a 91% discount or whatever. Suckers in the people who don't know how to Google stuff.

Computer hardware companies do it too. Instead of just dropping the regular price they're discount products with mail-in rebates. Not only does it look to the consumer like a good deal and not a normal deal, but if the rebate never shows up the company made a little extra money

Ah, how economics and gullibility go hand in hand.

This is a very good buy if it's got KSC75 (or better) drivers in it. I wouldn't call them "cool for school" though. Not ugly for school, or acceptable for school. It needs camouflage paint to be cool for school.
