Hi, I have just bought two KRK Rokit RP5 monitor speakers as my friend has them and they sounded great however i just got my 2 setup and have horrible loud static noises running through them. Weirdly enough its as if when i scroll my mouse or move round my screen i can hear it worse. ive read up on ways to solve the issue but being new to the whole audio stuff im kind of lost at the moment.

Ive had a look at Ground loop isolators but have heard bad things regarding sound quality loss so i want to avoid them if possible

also i do have them plugged in to a surge protector along with my PC and loads of other electronics (mine looks like this) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vertical...672755&hash=item2f074686a2:g:HsoAAOSwiA9ZZil5

And i have them placed directly behind my duel monitors plugged in to on board sound

My pc specs are -
EVGA Super Nova 850 PSU
Asrock mobo
intel i7 6700k
AMD RX 480

if i unplug the 3.5 jack from my pc and use my phone instead there is no feedback buzz so i think this could be a grounding issue, If anyone has any ideas that might help it would be much appreciated as im currently gaming on a silent PC. Thanks

Did you read this thread? https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new-krk-rokit-5s-make-static-noise.653554/

Try disconnecting EVERYTHING except your pc and your speakers, see if that resolved the issue. Then connect each device one by one to find the cause.

I had a very similar issue and I had to disconnect my secondary monitor which was connected to the hdmi port of my RX 480.
I want to try DisplayPort instead but i do not have a cable.

B.t.w. I do use an USB audio device with XLR cables, instead of my integrated soundcard.
And I do not use ground loop isolators either.

You could be right there, I have noticed that when i plug in my hdmi monitor it creates a spark if it touches the metal plate of the PC Casing. Not at home at the moment but ill check it when i get in. Would there be any ways around this issue as i dont really want to have to buy a new monitor

I have no workaround. I simply removed my secondary monitor altogether :(.
If you have a DisplayPort cable and monitor then try that, and let me know how it worked out :).

My main display is connect via DVI and that does not cause any problems.

Get another surge protector, plug the KRK's into it and plug the surge protector into a different wall socket, from the other surge protecter.

Or.
This Hifiediy optical DAC ($59), it should eliminate any ground looping issue, between the PC and the KRK (and improve audio quality?).

Might sound stupid here but when you say another socket I have two sockets on the same facia at home, does the secondary slot count as a different socket or does it use the same mains power?

I guess separate facia would be nice, but if you have to use the same facia, still try it.

Do you have any other surge protectors around the home, that you could "borrow" for a short time, just to test, before having to buy another surge protector?

i only have 2 plugs in my room both in use so ill have to try the same facia. Also does it have to be a surge protector i only have standard extension leads lying around and dont really want to be spending anymore money as i was just hoping for plug and play with these Monitors. already bought a new soundcard etc to try to fix this issue. Thanks
