You've heard the rumors - now the wait is finally over! We're excited to be able to finally share more about TALOS with you ahead of it's community debut at CanJam SoCal, where those of you attending will get to hear it for the first time. Join DUNU for our next sonic adventure with an ethereal experience in the 1 planar + 2 BA hybrid, TALOS. Coined from Greek Mythology, inspired by the brass automation that protected Europa on the island of Crete from invaders, TALOS has a host of technological achievements that make it stand out from the planar market to date.

Featuring a fully-custom 14mm planar driver and 2 balanced armatures, the TALOS holds a sound signature that those familiar to planar will love but with a twist. Traditionally, a planar driver can have qualities unfixable in the tuning process. The earphone resolves this by using an analog switch that turns on it’s 2 BAs, specifically tuned for the treble and upper treble. The planar rounds out the rest of the sound signature creating a feeling of something familiar yet thanks to the new horizons with planar drivers, something you have not experienced before.

Accessories from DUNU need no explanation and the TALOS will come with a host of them completing a package that will be extremely competitive for it’s price.

The TALOS is available for pre-order now here at the price of $199.99 and is set to start shipping on Friday, September 23rd.

These are a 'maybe' with the switch turned OFF, and a 'Oh HELLLLLLL NO' with the switch turned ON. :fearful::confounded:

I expected the hybrid mode to have better treble extension, not increase lower treble by like 8 dB.

Edit: This might be a resonance peak now that I think about it.

Planar mode tuning looks solid enough, this one will be on my list of IEM considerations when I buy more gear next month or during 11.11

Maybe for the TALOS 2, you can use a single BA supertweeter to just fill in that 10dB 15KHz trough, and call it a day. :nerd:

Beautiful design, though. I'm still definitely gonna give them a listen at CanJam.

Personally guessing, Planar mode will suit my needs more, With BA's at work, it seems to get somewhat more energetic. But I would hold on to my horses till I audition.

You'd be correct - it's more of an energetic sound.

It seems... VERY energetic yes... 😇😋

The graph is... spooky (high frequencies). 👻😁

Need to listen it. 🤘

I've been looking for something that's tuned like the Talos in planar only mode, specifically for long listening sessions where I can get treble fatigued easily. A planar IEM from Dunu (who I freaking love) with the tuning I'm looking for makes this really enticing.... but that hybrid switch takes it up another level entirely. I absolutely love the idea of being able to switch the treble peak on/off to be able to switch between 'relaxing' and 'engaging' listening modes.

I understand other manufacturers also have tuning switches on IEMs but honestly the bass switch on the Dunu SA6 is the only tuning switch I've tried that I think is worthwhile. (Most don't have a noticeable effect or don't have an enjoyable one). Dunu also did an incredible job of engineering the tuning switch on the SA6 - it's super easy to use even while the IEMs are being worn. Hopefully the one on the Talos will be just as good.

I'm so excited for this. It's the first IEM I've blind pre-ordered without reading a bunch of reviews. Looking forward to listening!

I presume that the idea of BA tweeters isn’t that bad, even though the FR graph looks quite “blingy” to me. Actually, not all DAPs can drive planar iems good enough. And the artefacts of these inability are especially apparent in treble section. For example, Dope Audio Pure and AAW Nightingale sounded awful from WM1Z…

So, this BA switch makes Talos suitable for a wider range of devices. This is a very good idea. Also, the energy of mid treble section can always be tamed by using foam tips:)

We have some reviews on the way soon. I think the planar mode will be what you're looking for though!

Thanks so much! I love the SA6 for the same reason as well.

Look forward to your thoughts.

So, this BA switch makes Talos suitable for a wider range of devices.

That was part of our intention with it as well!
