I want to present my last mod/build. This is a JDS Labs C5D that I just bought a week ago to try it with another op amp. I have more JDS Labs C5 and C5D because I really love this amplifier and I have a special feeling with it.
As I said before, I want to try this classic but beautiful amplifier with another op amp, and I decided to use the AD8620 because in earlier versions, when the JDS Labs C421, you can choose the op amp and this was one of the options. Probably now we can choose another op amp that have a better performance, could be, but i think the AD8620 is a good option if you like a sound more precise and more analitycal.
My first impressions were very good. It´s more analitical, more clear. Maybe it lost some bass, but I think the bass is more controlled, don´t boom...
Probably next month I will modify another one, but this one I will try to put the Burson Audio V5i.
