What is sound check and what does it do? I heard it could lower sound quality when importing Cds to apple lossless. Also, what is error correction?
Thanks.

Here is an explanation of sound check from Apple's support area. Presumably sound check works the same in various iterations of iTunes but to be sure you may wish to look up your version. It is not clear from the notes whether peak limiting is toggled with sound check. Does anyone know?

Sound Check wasn't strong enough to balance out my tracks. I have all sorts of different things on my iPod... talk radio, historical recordings, modern recordings, etc. I use the iVolume script in iTunes and it works much better. No problems with outrageously loud tracks jumping out any more.

See ya
Steve
