I just recently got Audioengine A5 speakers, and they are wonderful, though I seem to be having a few issues with them as are others from what I can tell reading around online.
The two issues bugging me the most:
1. speakers will turn off when playing the audio source at low volumes
2. when the volume dial on the left speaker is anywhere below about 11 O' Clock my right speaker will be lower in volume than my left speaker.
What makes things worse is that the troubleshooting on audioengines website to fix these two issues causes another issue to pop up. Earsplitting volume!
For example they tell you in order to avoid the speakers being shut off you need to turn up the volume on your source more so they won't turn off shut off, but at the same time they tell you that in order to avoid having your right speaker be lower in volume than your left speaker you need to keep the volume dial on the speakers above 11 O' clock.
In other words, raise the volume times two...
My solution to fixing these problems was to keep the speaker volume dial at about 9 O' clock and go into my computers volume balance settings to raise the output level on my right speaker.
This way the volume stays lower, my source puts out enough juice to keep the A5's from shutting off, and my right speaker more or less matches my left in volume.
Does anyone know of a better way of dealing with this issue or did I already find the best way?
