Just discovered this today. I was getting sick of replacing my foam tips, which I love, but which are expensive to keep replacing. I discovered that I wear the large size with the foamies. The silicone tips never quite fit right, so today I tried the mediums again. I noticed that one ear (left) fit perfectly, and the right ear kept slipping out. So I popped a large silicone tip on the right side, and...bliss. I have as good a seal as I did with the foamies, and these are easier to take in and out when coworkers want to talk to me. (Previously I had to pull the tip out, talk talk talk, then squish it, put it in, hold it, etc.)

So, essentially, I have two different sized ear canals. Please make me feel normal. Is there anyone else who found this to be the case?

I don't think both ear canals are the same size for MOST people. I find that I take medium sized tips for both foamies and silicone. My left ear always fits great, but my right ear, tips seem to lose their grip, sorta kinda. I'll probably end up experimenting with different sizes for my right ear

Well obviously not the way you should use the tips, but if it works better it is better.

Enjoy!

@aPATN: How is that not the way to use the tips? I'm not sticking them up my nose...I'm using them in the prescribed way, in the ears. I was just curious if I was the only one who had mismatched ear canals.

And I recently traded away all my medium foams for large ones, so I may never know if that left ear really needed a medium foam and a large in the right one.

One ear canal bigger than the other? Perfectly normal. Try a ring from your right (or left hand) and switch it to the same finger on the other hand, you will notice it is not the same fit. One of your feet will be bigger than the other, etc etc.

The right and left sides of the body are not symetrical. Use the tips that best fit each ear, and rest assured you are normal (physically).

Does this thread belong here?

Haha, well because normally your would use the same size tips for both ears. Apparently your ear canals slightly differ in size.

So you are sayin', after all this time, that you want your medium olives back?!

Yeah, man, flick off the earwax and send them back to me.

The large ones are fine, just a little pressure in my smaller left ear canal. The large silicon tip just didn't fit that ear properly. The medium one did. I guess the foam is a bit more forgiving because you squish it.

I don't have mismatched ear canals...

...but my right leg is longer than my left, so I guess I'm a freak too
